One-of-a-kind Austin Bachelorette Party

One-of-a-kind Austin Bachelorette Party

A few years ago, two of my closest friends got married within a month of each other. This meant twice the bridal showers, bachelorette parties, bridesmaids dresses, and ceremonies. As a maid of honor in one of the two weddings, I had a lot on my plate during that time. One of the biggest tasks to do, of course, was to plan the bachelorette party.

Austin was recently named one of the top cities in the country for bachelorette parties. But riddle me this…how do you plan a bachelorette party in Austin when half of the bridal party isn’t 21 and the other half don’t necessarily love to party? Here is what I planned for a fun, girly, and low-key bachelorette party in Austin, Texas.

First Stop: Hula Hut

Great views, good drinks, and delicious noms. It doesn’t get much better than that. The Hula Hut is located right on the lake, so you can take some great pictures and enjoy a beautiful night outside.

Second Stop: Bead It

Bead It is a local jewelry store that hosts tons of different workshops for groups of all sizes. We hand-stamped metal necklaces and it was a hit. Check out their website to find a class that you’ll love!

Third Stop: Capital Cruises

After getting our taco fix for dinner, we hit up the sunset bat cruise on Town Lake through Austin Capital Cruises. The guides share fun facts about the skyline and the city. All of the bridesmaids loved it! Most of them are from Austin and had never been on the bat cruise, so it was a unique experience for them. The best part—it’s BYOB so if you want to get rowdy you can. After the cruise, we grabbed dessert and went back to the apartment for a night of games and movies.

If you're planning a bachelorette party (or just a night out) with your friends and want something other than a night out, get creative and support local businesses! Group events and workshops are a great way to bond with the bridal party before the special day. Check out local yoga studios, craft workshops, or cooking classes. There are so many fun things to do in Austin. Search Do512 or Austin360 to find events that are happening on the weekends. Have any other ideas? Comment below!

XOXO, emily
